Competent Person in Trenching and Excavation
Course Overview:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires a Competent Person to oversee all work activities on Jobsites involving Trenching and Excavation activities, this is because, Trenching and Excavations are the most dangerous types of construction to workers. More workers are killed or seriously injured while working in or around excavations and trenches more so than any other activities in construction work. OSHA requires certain training for the Competent and be knowledgeable in soil analysis, the proper use of protection systems, and the requirements of the OSHA 1926 Subpart P Standard for Excavation and Trenching.
Course Objectives:
Understand OSHA regulations and standards for trenching and excavation.
Identify hazards associated with trenching and excavation activities.
Implement appropriate protective systems based on soil types and site conditions.
Classify soils according to OSHA standards and assess their impact on trench stability.
Conduct thorough inspections to ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Completing this course will allow each student to receive 5 Credit Hours, student manual including OSHA handouts on excavations and trenching. A full copy of the OSHA Subpart P, Copy of the Power Point Presentation, Wallet Card, Wall Certificate and Hard Hat sticker. This training has Been Granted and Accepted by the GA Secretary of State Contractors Licensing Division for required Credit Hours for certain Construction and Contractors Licenses.
