Confined Space Entry

Course Overview:

The Confined Space Entry Program is designed to provide Construction Managers, Competent Persons, and any employee that is working around and in Confined Spaces the basic information regarding entry and working around confined spaces.  The reason for this training is because millions of workers who enter confined spaces each year have the risk of injury and death. There are many unseen hazards that will be discussed in this program. Therefore, each Confined Space must be carefully evaluated, all hazards must be mitigated or controlled prior to issuing an entry permit or designating the confined space as a non-permitted Confined Space.

Course Objectives:

  • Understand regulatory requirements related to confined spaces, including OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910.146).

  • Identify types of confined spaces and their associated hazards.

  • Learn safe entry procedures, including permit requirements and entry operations.

  • Understand atmospheric monitoring and ventilation procedures.

  • Gain knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency response planning.

  • Develop competency in using personal protective equipment (PPE) for confined space entry.

  • Learn about roles and responsibilities of entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors.

  • Apply practical skills through simulations and case studies.

Who Should Attend:

Confined Space Entry training is crucial for a variety of professionals across industries. It is essential for workers who must enter confined spaces as part of their job responsibilities, such as maintenance personnel, cleaners, and inspectors. Supervisors and managers benefit from this training to ensure they can oversee operations safely, comply with regulatory standards, and coordinate emergency procedures effectively. Safety professionals play a vital role in developing and implementing confined space safety programs within their organizations. Additionally, emergency responders, including fire fighters and rescue teams, require this training to perform rescue operations safely in confined spaces. Contractors from outside firms who may work in confined spaces at host employer sites also benefit from understanding confined space entry protocols to ensure safety and compliance. Overall, Confined Space Entry training equips individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to mitigate risks, adhere to safety standards, and respond appropriately to emergencies in confined spaces.
